Demolition Derby In Southeast San Diego

Condemned properties are about to be torn down

During the next few days, San Diego police and two of the city's Code Enforcement units will be destroying several vacant properties that are considered dangerously unsafe.

The properties are in southeast San Diego along south 35th and Francis Streets.

The city says these areas have become a "ground zero" for transients, drug users and parolees.

A court says the property owners have been given many opportunities to clean up the area, and since they have not complied, the properties will be demolished.
