Museum Month Offers Half-Off Admission

More than 40 museums will be 50 percent off in February throughout San Diego

This February, San Diegans can experience some of the best museums in California for half price.

Museums such as Birch Aquarium at Scripps, San Diego Air & Space Museum and the Whaley House Museum will offer 50 percent off admission with a Museum Month pass for the entire month of February.

Here’s how it works: People can pick up a free pass at any San Diego Macy’s stores throughout the month of February. The free pass is good for up to four people to receive half-off at up to 42 San Diego County museums.

People then have the chance to see iconic photography, exotic fish or bizarre items from around the world at a fraction of the usual cost.

The San Diego Museum Council started the annual tradition in 1989 to give San Diegans the chance to check out exhibits at a discount. Last year more than 35,000 people used a Museum Month pass to visit local museums.

Some highlights include the Trash exhibit at the New Children’s Museum downtown or the “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” showing at the San Diego Air & Space Museum. There's also the "Dr. Entomo's Palace of Exotic Wonders" exhibit at the Natural History Museum -- featuring some unusual insects, some of which are alive and on display.
