Pixies, who just embarked on an epic co-headlining tour with Weezer, are coming to San Diego -- well, Chula Vista -- on Aug. 11. The surf-punk art-rockers will play anything they want at Mattress Firm Amphitheatre come late summer.
With a set time clocking in at over an hour, Pixies will be all about the music, choosing songs from all points of their career and eschewing on-stage banter.
The massive Live Nation concert starts at 7:30 p.m. with tickets ranging from $20-99 -- not bad, considering you'll be witnessing two of the biggest alternative pop/rock acts of the last 20+ years share a memorable summer night in San Diego.
Where is my mind? It feels like forever since Pixies played here, but it turns out it was just last year at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre. And Weezer? Well, they're staples here -- Kaaboo last year, Sleep Train (now Mattress Firm) Amphitheatre the year before and the Del Mar Friday Concert Series the year before that.
All that to say, we're glad to have both bands back, and we're even happier that they're sharing the same stage.
