Post-Punk Marauders Interpol Bust Cal Coast Open

Interpol's world tour comes to Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre on Oct. 5

Interpol are back and louder than ever, apparently.

Last week, the band announced the release of new album "Marauder," which will be the post-punk revivalists' first in four years. Accompanying that release is a world tour that finds its way to San Diego's Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre on Oct. 5. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, June 15, at 10 a.m. PST at this link.

Based on all early indications, "Marauder" is an understatement.

In 2017, Paul Banks (vocals/guitar), Daniel Kessler (guitar/vocals), Carlos Dengler (bass/keyboards) and Sam Fogarino (drums) were rehearsing the new album so vigorously and loudly that the cops had to shut the practice down. At another rehearsal, Fogarino was beating so hard on his drums that he busted through his kick drum. Whoops.

The last time Interpol came through town was in 2015 when they played Humphreys in support of their critically-acclaimed fifth album, "El Pintor." The year before, the band played 91x's Wrex the Halls at Valley View Casino Center.

It looks like it's back to the arena for the New York legends who go from Europe to North America and back with the likes of the Cure, Sunflower Bean, Nilufer Yanya and Carseat Headrest. Talk about a tour of a lifetime.

Interpol headline Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre on Oct. 5. Tickets go on sale to the general public here on Friday, June 15 at 10 a.m. PST.
