The Sleep Train Amphitheatre Chula Vista, formerly known as Cricket Wireless and Coors Amphitheatre, is one of San Diego’s best live music venues. Located only about 17 minutes from bustling downtown San Diego, the Sleep Train Amphitheatre Chula Vista first opened its doors to the public in 1998 when it was known as the Coors Amphitheatre. The Sleep Train Amphitheatre Chula Vista is the largest venue of its kind in the San Diego area.
The Sleep Train Amphitheatre Chula Vista has a total capacity of about 20,000 (about 10,000 from reserved seating and the other 10,000 from lawn seating). Because it has a larger capacity than the San Diego Sports Arena, Sleep Train Amphitheatre Chula Vista is used primarily in the non-winter months for major concert tours.
Due to its state of the art technology and impressive capacity, the Sleep Train Amphitheatre has been able to attract many of the biggest names in music to its stage over the years. Black Eyed Peas, John Mayer, Kings of Leon, Spice Girls, Aerosmith, No Doubt, Eminem, Incubus, Metallica and Jack Johnson are just a few of those featured on the Sleep Train Amphitheatre schedule in the past, with plenty more lined up for future concerts.
